London Mayor, Boris Johnson, presented Kevin Fewster, Director of the National Maritime Museum, with a Commendation for the Sammy Ofer Wing at last night's London Planning Awards. The Sammy Ofer Wing beat off competition from Westfield Stratford City and Heron Tower in the Best Built Project category.
NLP submitted the Sammy Ofer Wing for the award, having obtained planning and listed building consent for this extension to the National Maritime Museum. The Wing opened in July 2011 and will host the Royal River exhibition over the summer in celebration of the Queens Jubilee and the National Maritime Museum’s 75th anniversary.
The other 3 shortlisted finalists were all much larger projects than ours, thus it is especially satisfying to receive this recognition.
Further details of the Sammy Ofer Wing can be found here.
