NLP recently hosted an evening Seminar for the North East RTPI on Environmental Impact Assessments. The free event was open to all RTPI members and students in the North East and was well attended by members from the public and private sectors.
The seminar focused on the recent changes to the Regulations, the EIA process and a case study highlighting the potential pitfalls of an EIA, with presentations from Chris Harrison, Anthony Greally and Sam Marlow. As expected the seminar raised many queries over the EIA process and in particular around the level of information required within the Screening process following recent case law examples from across England.
NLP Director, Chris Harrison in his introduction to the evening said that "the turnout itself was an indication of the importance of EIA's and their implications for the planning profession, particularly given recent case law.
