On behalf of Arena Leisure Plc, NLP has secured planning permission for an extension to the time limit for implementing the UK’s first “Racino” (casino at a Racecourse) at Wolverhampton Racecourse.
The unique Racecourse visitor attraction forms an integral part of the development’s leisure offer, including major expansion of the hotel and conference facilities and enhancements to the racing facilities.
Arena’s implementation of the scheme, which will provide approximately 225 additional jobs, now awaits the Council’s on-going Gambling Policy consultation and subsequent license award.
NLP demonstrated that the changes in circumstance since the original approval in 2008 now weighed more strongly in favour of the development.
This is excellent news for the future of Wolverhampton Racecourse. We are delighted that Wolverhampton City Council has continued to recognise, in renewing the planning permission, the economic benefits of Arena’s proposals for the local area.
