Renewable Energy Academy Gets the 'Green' Light

March 8, 2011

Planning permission has been granted for the change of use of a vacant storage building to a Renewable Energy Academy in Wallsend, North Tyneside. NLP prepared a Planning Statement, Design and Access Statement and Economic Statement to accompany the application which was submitted by Ryder Architecture.

It was necessary to demonstrate that the application was essential to kick-start the regeneration of the North Bank of the River Tyne and Wallsend, providing support for the emerging renewable energy industry through the development of skilled workers within the Wallsend area. The Council agreed that the regeneration benefits of the scheme justified the loss of an employment site.

Michael Hepburn, Associate Director at Nathaniel Lichfield and Partners stated:

We are delighted to be involved in a project that will support the growth of the renewables industry in North-East England.
