NLP undertook an economic study of this leading business aviation airport to help Rushmoor Borough Council understand its wider business and socio-economic impacts in determining a planning application for a doubling of air movements.
This study involved a review of the characteristics of the business aviation sector and its growth trends, as well as examination of a range of business aviation airports across the UK and Europe. The study assessed existing employment and potential job growth levels associated with the direct, indirect, and catalytic impacts of the airport. It also examined the airport’s role in supporting the local economy and attracting investment to the South East, its impact on tourism via the biennial Air Show, and any wider benefits for the local community.
An associated study was also undertaken, which assessed the effects of the airport and its planned growth on residential property prices in the adjoining area. This reviewed research from other airports as well as changes in local house prices below and away from the flightpath.
NLP had previously secured planning permission for the Carroll Aircraft Corporation to introduce civil aviation into the Ministry of Defence Royal Aircraft Establishment Civil Enclave at Farnborough.
