NLP is Kingston University’s retained planning consultant and provides planning related advice in connection with its various campus sites. Some sites include listed buildings and conservation area designations whilst others are located within river floodplains and Metropolitan Open Land (MOL).
Recent projects include:
- obtaining planning permissions for a part six, part seven-storey teaching building at the Penrhyn Road campus (John Galsworthy Building)
- obtaining planning permission and Conservation Area Consent to demolish a halls of residence building and its replacement with a larger (7,000m2), modern teaching facility. NLP’s submission demonstrated that the proposals would have no adverse effect on protected views.
- obtaining planning permission following a successful appeal to locate more than 1,000m2 of temporary teaching accommodation in MOL.
NLP has worked with the University on its Student Accommodation Strategy and Campus Development Plan and has co-ordinated a number of public consultation events to inform residents of the University’s emerging proposals.
NLP also attends regular liaison meetings with Councillors of the Royal Borough.
