Lee Valley White Water Centre, Broxbourne

NLP, in conjunction with the Mackinnon Partnership and Tourism UK, has been commissioned by the Lee Valley Water Centre Legacy Board to undertake an Economic Development Study to maximise the benefits of Lee Valley White Water Centre. This newly-constructed venue will host Canoe slalom events at the 2012 Olympic Games, and became the first brand new London 2012 venue to open to the public in April 2011.

The study is investigating what the economic impacts of the centre are likely to be, and examine what complementary facilities could be developed in order to maximise benefits to the local economy and develop its role as a visitor destination.  This is particularly important given relatively high levels of deprivation in the local area.

The project's outputs will include a 'spatial framework', which will act as a draft investment prospectus and influence emerging planning and economic development policy.
