Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew

NLP has assisted the Royal Botanic Gardens to take forward its development programme with construction of the New Herbarium Building and Quarantine House.

NLP prepared a strategy and a submission under the then Crown Exemption consultation procedures to enable development of the new herbarium building (designed by Edward Cullinan Architects) which provides climate-controlled storage for 50 years expansion of the world’s largest collection of dried plant specimens as well as a library for Kew’s renowned collection of botanical books and illustrations all within the Kew Gardens World Heritage site. NLP also advised on the implications of the removal of Crown exemption along with the implementation and small scale works of the Quarantine House.
