St Bernard's Hospital, Ealing, London

NLP is instructed by the WLMHT to bring forward a new Medium Secure Unit (MSU) as part of a new secure forensic campus at St Bernard's Hospital. It is also seeking planning permission for residential led development elsewhere on its estate. This includes securing outline planning permission for new residential accommodation and full planning permission and listed building consent for the conversion of its Grade II listed Victorian asylum building to residential use.

NLP developed a planning strategy to meet the WLMHT's operational objectives and helped to inform a disposal strategy to maximise value on redundant parts of its estate. It has also developed a communications strategy to ensure effective engagement with relevant stakeholders.

An application for a new MSU was submitted to the London Borough of Ealing in February 2012 and further planning applications for residential led development are due to be submitted in Summer 2012.

NLP is coordinating the planning application submissions, including applications for listed building consents and undertaking a number of technical studies. This includes socio-economic impact, cultural heritage and townscape and visual impact assessments.
