NLP has played a key role since 1997 in the redevelopment and extension of the Westgate Centre, a 1960s shopping centre in historic Oxford City Centre. In March 2007 NLP secured detailed planning permission for the major extension, refurbishment and alterations of the centre providing an additional 34,000sqm of net comparison floorspace, refurbishment of the County library, a 1,355 space multi-storey car park and bus interchange, and 127 residential units.
NLP managed and co-ordinated the Environmental Statement and provided technical inputs into the socio-economic, daylight/sunlight and overshadowing, townscape and heritage, visual impact and interrelationship/cumulative impact chapters. In February 2010 NLP co-ordinated an update to the ES to accompany an application to extend the lifetime of the extant permission.
